Oil companies around the world ramped up drilling in response to rising oil and gas prices, boosting profits for their contractors. That spending surge is likely to continue in 2011 as an improving global economy leads to increased demand for energy. Increase in Rigs, Both Oil and Gas

This week reports were released that showed an increase in the US rig count. This count includes rigs searching for both natural gas and oil, reflecting a boost in the number of land rigs. Since last year’s Gulf disaster, companies are focusing on land rigs.
