Commitment to Safety

R&J Technical Services is committed to a safe and healthy workplace and is a believer that safety does not happen by chance, but rather through careful planning, training and support; with oversight from knowledgeable management. Our efforts have been recognized with a 3 year Incident-Free Operations (IFO) award from Chevron MCBU, and an “A” rating from ISNetworld, in addition to being an OSHA and MSHA certified contractor.

R&J has developed an industry leading safety program designed to protect all those employed by or affiliated with our projects. This includes the implementation of a written Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Program where we pre-screen applicants and require pre-employment and post-accident drug and alcohol tests.

As a company and as individuals, we take great pride in contributing to the communities where we live and work. We also care about the environment and are proud of the many ways in which our employees work to safeguard it.

One of the industries moving into the area as the result of the Marcellus shale play is R&J Technical Services.

Based in Mansfield, R&J is a rig electrical specialist company under the direction of Field Service Manager Jamie Williamson.

“The gas brought us here, but we want to serve the public, too,” said Williamson. He first worked in Washington County, before deciding to move north to Tioga County.

R&J Technical Services began in 2005 and is headquartered in Layton, Utah, with operations in North Dakota, Wyoming, Alaska and now Pennsylvania. They are also a licensed electrical contractor in Montana and Colorado. The company provides electrical contracting and welding fabrication services.

The company is licensed, insured, bonded and certified by the  Mine Safety and Health Administration and Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The company services new construction and remodels, thermal imaging, motor control, communication systems, generators, camp systems, HVAC, lighting, AC and DC motors, heating, air compressors, PLC systems, preventive maintenance, CAD drafting, boilers, air heaters and more.

Some clients currently served by R&J include Basic Energy, Chevron Exploration Co., FEDEX, Sun Mart, State of Wyoming, Ultra Resources, Universal Compression and numerous drilling companies.

The Mansfield operation currently has two employees in addition to Williamson. Two are welders; Williamson is an electrician. More will be hired as business picks up, he added.

The company first moved into the area about a month ago. Since then, business has started to pick up, Williamson added.

Right now, R&J is working on welding together boiler skids in the Mansfield shop and providing services to drilling rigs on site. The company also accepts work from local residents, farmers, industries and businesses.

All welders are certified and work is quality guaranteed, said Williamson.

Shop hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. R&J Technical also provides on-call services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“If they need me, call me and I’ll send somebody out,” Williamson said.
